On Saturday, Mile High Dining ventured out and enjoyed the drive down Montview Boulevard headed to Annette restaurant. Montview had many families riding bicycles, a very enjoyable ride. Annette had made Mile High Dining top five best restaurants list for 2019. Chef/owner, Caroline Glover, was named one of the best new chefs in America by Food and Wine. Also, Annette’s was named by the James Beard Foundation as one of the best new restaurants in America. Enough of that accolades.
We ordered the wood fired roasted 1/2 chicken dinner. It included a potato gratin dish and a side salad. On arrival, the food is delivered curbside and after you hold up your name on a sign in the windshield, the food is placed on the car’s hood.
The chicken was delicious. It was very tender and moist. In the take away box, it sits in lots of juices and green sautéed kale. The gratin dish is filled with potatoes, mild leeks, and Taleggio cheese. It was still warm when we arrived at home. The cheese adds a great flavor to the potatoes. The side salad of butter leaf lettuce with shaved radishes and pickled shallot vinaigrette was delicious as the tart flavors against the potatoes and chicken were a hit.
Lastly, the bottle of Reeve Pinot noir was only $20! It was delicious and a bargain. Sipping a light red wine is finally a sign of spring in Denver.
My ratings ⚖️ are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The Verdict ⚖️ for Annette is Very Good.
