Mile High Dining is temporarily changing our name to Mile High Take Away as we continue to try and help save local restaurants in Denver. Today, we had a take away lunch from the Bagel Deli and an evening meal from Pizzeria Locale.
The Bagel Deli has been open since 1967. It was featured on the Food Network’s TV show, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Besides food to go, they also have groceries and many other deli items. We ordered via the telephone and requested a bagel with cream cheese and lox and three cheese blintzes.
The everything bagel lived up to its name and had everything on it, homemade cream cheese, capers, three layers of lox, yes, three layers, onion, lettuce, and a slice of tomato. Very good and very filling. The three large cheese blintzes with a side of sour cream and cherry toppings will satisfy your sweet tooth.
We had a second take away for the evening from Pizzeria Locale on Broadway. A margarita pizza for only $6.25 has red sauce, mozzarella, and fresh basil. Very Italian and delicious. It was still warm when we arrived home. We also had Budino for a tiny dessert. It’s butterscotch with caramel on top. Once again, it will satisfy your need for sweet. Two beers were added and the Face Down Ale was my favorite as it reminded me of my snowboarding days and surviving several face down falls.
Two take away meals falls short of our all-time record of several years ago in New York City, when we ate at seven different restaurants in one evening starting at 4:30 PM and finished at 1:30 AM.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
My verdict ⚖️ for the Bagel Deli’s everything bagel is Very Good.
My verdict ⚖️ for Pizzeria Locale is Very Good.
