Call

Call is as close to Denmark as one can find in Denver. Mile High Dining is managing to stay active supporting great local food. This week we had a take away lunch from Call. Remember, it was nominated as one of the best new restaurants in America by Bon Appetit in 2018.

We ordered online and the food was delivered curbside. Call is Scandinavian-based focusing on small dishes. First, the Aebleskever which is Danish for snacks in round shapes. Essentially, warm pancake puffs with ricotta cheese and fruit preserves. The other item was the World Famous Chef Duncan Holme’s Chicken Salad Sandwich. We also included a bottle of French Burgundy wine but I could not drink a fancy French wine for lunch, so I paired the sandwich with a Hercules Beer.

The Aebleskever pancake puffs were still warm when we arrived home. They are like donut holes without all the sweet sugar. Delicious!

The chicken salad sandwich was also very good. It had several nice-sized chicken slices within the toasted sourdough bread. It paired excellent with the Hercules beer.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
