Euclid Hall

Euclid Hall is located at 1317 14th Street. Denver, CO. It is located just off Larimer St. in downtown Denver. It’s one of the restaurants owned and operated by Chef Jen Jasinski and Beth Gruitch which include Rioja, Bistro Vendome, Stoic and Genuine, and others. Euclid Hall is a beer lovers paradise. Many know that a wine expert is a sommelier but few know that a beer expert is a “cicerone”. Euclid Hall has one.

The building was built as a home for a wealthy doctor in 1883. When you visit, check out the history provided in the menu. Upon entry one must climb a flight of steps, remember it was a home.

First, the beers are presented in math order as an ode to Euclid, the father of geometry . The extensive list goes from simple to complex. It starts with Arithmetic for the light beers, then Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, and the most complex, Quantum Mechanics. Additionally, a list of drafts of the day and a reserve list of some very expensive ones. Be careful with prices on the latter. The total number of beer choices is about 75. Besides beer, wine and cocktails are available. The one cocktail name that caught my attention, “Everything Hurts and I Am Dying”. It is beer and rum. We both played it safe and had the Horse and Dragon Whistle Blast Brown Beer. Very Good. One had the Coke!

Food is secondary. We enjoyed the Sausage Party, the four different ones that are made in house: beef, lamb, pork cheddarwurt, and boudin blanc (white pork or no blood). They are served with 4 types of house made mustards. The sausages with mustard are very good.

The Pickle Sampler was disappointing as there was too little taste to wash down a Whistle Blast beer. Forget the pickles and enjoy the sausages. I was informed “No pictures of pickles, please”.

Service was ok but she never even introduced herself by name. Again, sit at the food bar or near the front as it’s too dark in the back area to read or understand “Quantum Mechanics”.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict ⚖️ for Euclid Hall is Good.
