Comal Heritage Food Incubator

Comal Heritage Food Incubator is located at 3455 Ringsby Court, Denver, CO. It’s not your typical restaurant but a training facility to help low income women from Latin America and the Middle East learn the restaurant business. It is open for lunch only Monday through Friday! Go out of your way to help this unique and worthy goal and the food is very good.

We had lunch on a Friday and menu is Syrian cuisine. Monday through Thursday generally is Mexican based. Three menu items were presented and we had two dishes: chicken and the sampler. First, the chicken, Jaj BlFirin. Halal chicken legs with vegetables with a side of Iraqi Rice and Fattoush salad. The chicken was delicious as the sauce added a great new flavor. The rice and salad are very plain tasting and need additional sauce or seasoning to help.

The Middle Eastern Sampler dish had hummus, Tzatziki, Salatit patata, Baba Ghanoush, Kish Bulgur salad, and Macaroni salad. There is a large side of grilled Pita bread. Five different tastes of Syria from the mild to a little spicy in the Tazatziki.

Drinks are very limited and no alcohol. Four different bottles of soda are offered including Coke. Of course, there is water. The drink of the day was Iraqi tea. It was black tea with cloves, star anise, and cardamom. Much too sweet tasting for me.

One famous chef and restaurant owner recently visited Comal and made it to her tv show, Lyndia Bastinich from NYC. She has had a cooking show on PBS for years and owns several restaurants in NY. She even complemented the food that was served.

We all owe to help out low income ladies from around the world to learn the restaurant business. Stop by and help. 5280 Magazine rates it one of the Best 25 restaurants in Denver. That’s not correct but it’s number 1 for social consciousness.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

My verdict ⚖️ for Comal is Good!
