El Five is located at 2930 Umatilla St., Denver, CO. Perched with the best view of downtown Denver in the Lower Highlands on the fifth floor of an office building, thus it’s name. El Five is part of the Root Down, Linger, and other restaurants group.
The four of us enjoyed Sunday Brunch rather than watching the Broncos play. The view of downtown Denver is the highlight of the dining experience. Next time, we’ll go at suppertime to see the lights. When you arrive on the ground floor, the hostess welcomes you into the elevator to floor five.
Our brunch consisted of four dishes: Shrimp and grits, Iberico ham, Poached crab and laktes, and Moroccan Pancakes. Drinks included the Bottomless Mimosas, Bloody Mary, White wine, and Mexican Coke.
The shrimp and grits has a great garlic flavor that made it the best brunch dish. Number two was the Moroccan Pancakes. Lots of sweet filling. Sadly, the Iberico Ham and the Crab dishes were missing an important ingredient, flavor. Crab and fancy ham should be much better and they were the two most expensive dishes. The presentation of all four dishes exceeded the taste and flavor of any of them.
Make sure you reserve a city side table or even sit in the in the bar area to enjoy the view. They also have tables on the mountain side with less of a view.
Service was fine. I recommend you visit the bar area at night and enjoy several small dishes and the view.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The verdict ⚖️ for El Five is Good.
