True Food

True Food is located in busy Cherry Creek at 2nd Ave. and Detroit, Denver, CO. The restaurant is based upon the healthy food program of Dr Andrew Weil from PBS fame.

I try to support local restaurants and not chain restaurants. I was surprised to discover True Food has 37 restaurants located across America and 12 in the planning stages. Since it is my close relative’s favorite Denver restaurant, I had to relent.

For brunch, we had pancakes, avocado toast, charred cauliflower, and hummus. Several healthy drinks included honey lemonades and Bright Eye juice.

The banana pancakes had a very boring presentation although they were tasty. A colored fruit such as blueberry is needed to improve the plate appearance. The avocado toast is toast smothered with avocados and two soft boiled eggs covered in arugula. This is a very good dish. The charred cauliflower was too spicy for the diners but what do you do with this type of vegetable. Lastly, the hummus dish with Pita bread was tasty.

The restaurant is large and has an open kitchen which is one of my favorite parts of any restaurant. The service was OK but the server kept stating that everything is wonderful. Very annoying after it was stated 5 times.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict for True Food is It’s OK.
