The Maine Shack is a new restaurant in the Lower Highlands. It serves lobster and more lobster. The chef/owner, Max Mackissock, was even behind the counter the other evening. The Shack is his newest place. The others are the Morin, Bar Dough, Tap and Burger, and Señor Bear. Remember, this a shack like you find in Portland, Maine in the dock area (pictured).
Great seafood and you scramble for a seat. This is not your mother’s sit down restaurant.
As for the food, we had the Lobster Roll with warm butter, Lobster Mac’ and Cheese, Lobster Grilled Cheese, and Fried Haddock (pictured).
One stands in line and you take your number and the food is delivered on a tray outside as there are about only 10 seats inside (pictured).
The food was very good. The Roll has lots of delicious lobster with warm butter and even the Mac’ and Cheese had several large chunks of lobster. The Fried Haddock had to be taken home but went well watching the Rockies lose again.
My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.
The Maine Shack is rated Very Good but remember it’s a “Shack”.
